Restoration: Reconstructive Restoration with Kintsugi and Gold/Silver Makie
This tea bowl was reconstructed from a fragment of early Imari ware, where only a quarter of the rim remained. Its form was restored using resin and finished with gold and silver makie.
The missing sections were meticulously painted with patterns likely present before the breakage, recreating the image of the leaf and fruit motif blossoming across the entire vessel. This revived form, imagined from its former beauty, transcends mere restoration; it reflects and revives the past within the present.
