Early Imari Blue-and-White Landscape Pattern Half-Cylinder Tea Bowl shc04

Dimensions: Longest Diameter Approx. 10.1cm × Shortest Diameter Approx. 9.5cm Height Approx. 8.0cm
Weight: Approx. 260g
Restoration: Piecing-together repair, Kintsugi, Gold and Silver Makie
This piece was reconstructed by combining four fragments of an early Imari landscape patterned half-cylinder tea bowl using kotsugi (joining with clay) and finished with kintsugi (gold-joined) using black lacquer. Furthermore, intricate gold maki-e was applied, adding a touch of splendor to the tranquil scenery inherent in ancient ceramics.
What were originally mere reference fragments were reborn as a single bowl through the masterful techniques of kotsugi and kintsugi. The bold form of the rim and the delicate brushwork of the landscape motif, combined with the traces of the repairs, create a unique aesthetic charm.
A truly one-of-a-kind tea bowl born from piecing together fragments of history. The shimmer of the gold maki-e will surely add a new story to the tea ceremony setting.
