This early Imari landscape pattern tea bowl has transcended time, weaving centuries of history. Fragments that once risked losing their form due to chips and damage have been meticulously restored through joint-repair techniques by master craftsmen. Missing sections were filled with resin, beautifully restored using resin mixed with vermilion pigment. Furthermore, the kintsugi technique—applying gold and silver maki-e lacquer to connect the landscape patterns—breathes new life into this bowl, transforming the broken parts into a new beauty that radiates brilliance.
Its classic bowl shape evokes the serene presence of a Joseon Dynasty tea bowl. Holding it reveals the refinement of early Edo period tea ceremony culture and the mastery of Imari artisans. The story woven by its damage and restoration gives it value beyond that of a mere tea bowl. In tea gatherings or as an object of contemplation, it will quietly speak of time.
